Research Division

Aims & Objectives

The Research Division operates on two definite chief aims.

The first aim is an external function which is to educate members of the Finance Society on different areas of finance. This involves the production of the following which will be submitted for publication in The Analyst or uploaded on the Society’s website.
1) Financial markets commentary
2) Articles relating to any areas of the Banking and Finance industry
3) Articles based on interviews and seminars conducted by industry professionals

The second aim is an internal function within the Division, which will take the form of an integrated mentoring programme. This design is for members of the team to share knowledge and expertise with each other for the purpose of accelerating skills development.

Roles within the Research Division

The structure of the Division is divided into the Research Team and the Editorial Team. We are seeking highly motivated people to join the Research Division, with two core groups available for application:

The Research Team

The primary objective of a Research Associate is to conduct independent research from a variety of primary and secondary sources including personal interviews, books, magazine and internet literature, culminating in the composition of an article for distribution to over 2000 members of the Society for educational purposes. Associates will also be given opportunities to conduct joint research and analysis. Teamwork, good communication skills and a desire to strive for excellence are crucial to succeed in this role. Outstanding articles will be published in the The Analyst.

The Editorial Team

We are looking for committed candidates who are highly motivated, a good team player and will always strive for excellence. Creating a successful magazine is a joint team effort. We strongly advise that only candidates with good teamwork and work ethic to apply. The primary objective is to ensure the successful publication of The Analyst. The team will maintain the high standard of the publication, and ensure that only quality articles are presented to our readers.

The following positions are available this year:

1) Creative Director
The Creative Director is in charge of the visual aspect of the magazine and is constantly communicating back and forth with the chief editor. His or her main task is in creating cover concepts and supervise the design of the entire publication.

2) External Relations Director
The External Relations Director will be handling all issues concerning our external partners and sponsors. He or she will have the opportunity to work closely with our sponsors, and assist them with their covers and advertisements. He or she will also be actively expanding our global network of contributors, and establish collaborations with partnering universities.
